Linkchecker

Test report

Procedure

With Linkchecker installed at Linux the following sites are tested:

  1. A Different End Of The Internet
  2. httpstat.us
  3. Rusty Links
  4. Dead Link City

Findings

The average speed of this broken link checker is 3 links per second.

The maximum number of links being tested is unlimited.

Slow websites are tolerated when they respond within 20 seconds.

Unknown status codes (888) are considered an error. LinkedIn isn't tested because it is blocked by the robots.txt directive of LinkedIn.

There were a few unhandeld exceptions while testing httpstat.us. Testing with Dead Link City learned that redirected links are correctly shown. Hence this requirement is marked as .

Although it is possible to start with a specific page, that page isn't used as base for crawling all links. Only the links at that page are tested. Hence the requirement "Allows you to take a subdirectory as base for the test" is marked as .
